The Wobbler classroom is catered to our littles to learn and grow at their own pace. We have designed the space for them to have access to beginner light cooking, cleaning up, and other practical life skills at an early age. They will be able to transition to the next classroom at their own pace once they display certain skills that prepare them for the Toddler classroom.
We begin to introduce our older toddlers and 2s into a combined classroom of ages 18 months-3 years. This stage incorporates activities with our older 3s-6s so they become familiar and comfortable with transitioning into our mixed age classroom when they are ready. They have access to more advanced materials and activities and begin using our Erdkinder space.
We offer summer and school year preschool programs for students ages 3-5 years. We have one AM class and one PM class. This is a great opportunity for students who have not yet been introduced to a school setting as well as for students who need some additional prep time prior to entering kindergarten.
Preschool is included in our full-day year-round program.
This class teaches pre-k up through 1st grade. Our mixed age classroom of ages 3-6 creates an environment where older students become the role models. They learn to help the younger students with different tasks which teaches patience, tolerance, and empathy.
Mixed age groups implement a sense of community and familiarity where they are able to connect with their peers and teachers for a longer period of time.
We offer school age programs for ages 6-9 years. The curriculum is for 1st through 3rd grade. These programs provide options for our private school and homeschooling families in addition to after-school programs.
Our school-age class includes activities and field trips to keep our students active and involved in their community.
Our new summer Nature Day Camp includes endless hands-on experiences for ages 5-12 and limited spots for age 4. We combine pieces of our year-round program with our Forest Camp curriculum to provide a unique experience for the children in our community during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Our Forest Camp will resume Summer 2021.
Erdkinder is our outdoor nature space. This term is German for
"child of the Earth".
We offer an acre of natural playground space which features 1/12 of a mile sidewalk track, water tables, mud kitchens, and endless space to run and explore.
We do not offer a manufactured playground in order to promote more exercise and imaginative play.
Our outdoor classroom is a learning garden that was created to provide a hands-on experience.
Within this space, students will find chickens, garden boxes,
demonstration tables, plant drying racks, root viewers, ant farms, and more. This is where our students are encouraged to observe and learn.
Throughout the year, our students will hold a Montessori Farmer's Market in our school parking lot. We will offer fresh organic fruits and vegetables that are grown here at IMM as well as fresh farm eggs from our chickens that the students raise among other items that the students create or bake within our school.
All proceeds will be used towards enhancing our classrooms and garden.
"The secret of good teaching is to regard the child's intelligence as a fertile field in which seeds may be sown, to grow under the heat of flaming imagination."
